At Giltinan and Kennedy LLP, we're chuffed to introduce Diane Brill - our new assistant accountant in the first of our Staff Spotlight chats.
Here, Diane gives us a 60-second run down of her typical working day and shares her pointers for the best ways that you can stay up to date with the latest financial news and developments that could affect you and your business.
What do you do at Giltinan and Kennedy?
I've just passed my three-month probation, which is great news! My role includes focussing on preparation of client accounts using various accounting software, self-assessment tax returns for clients, managing their payroll, as well as a host of other things.
What do you bring to the team?
I have a wealth of experience in accountancy, banking in both high street and asset management control and finance.
How does your typical day look?
My day involves dealing with any queries our clients may have, working on client accounts, filing returns with HMRC as well as statements at Companies House - all of which need to be completed according to their respective deadlines. I also help process the weekly and monthly payrolls for some of our clients. So no two days are the same, which is really refreshing and I am enjoying the challenge.
What types of challenges are clients currently facing?
We've seen clients having to face a whole raft of challenges and changes brought about by the pandemic, which has often made things very tough. The team here have helped by listening, supporting and providing up-to-date advice.
How do you think using a professional accountancy service benefits small business and individuals?
I think, as a small business or individual when you use a professional accountancy service it takes away the worry of keeping on top of your finances and ultimately it can save a considerable amount of money and time.
How can clients to stay up to date with changes that could affect them in 2022?

What gives you the most job satisfaction?
I find it rewarding to build relationships with and know that we have helped our clients. That feeling makes everything worthwhile.
How do you like to unwind?
I'm a Member of the National Trust and I also enjoying walking and exploring our beautiful country.
